1. Choose a pattern you like. Some patterns come with suggested threads some allow you to choose your own.
2. Some people like to use frames or hoops to hold the Aida cloth taught while you stitch. Other people like to roll the fabric especially if the project is large.
3. Ensure you have a selection of needles 🪡 and threads, good pair of scissors.
4. Prepare your fabric, if the cloth has been folded it will need to be ironed flat and left. Allow 7.5 cm extra edge so that your finished work can be mounted .
Always start stitching in the middle of the design. This way you know that you won’t end up too close to one edge or another. Most patterns will mark the centre of the design with arrows from the outside edge.
Fold your fabric in half and in half again the other way to find the centre point. Mark it with a pin before you put your fabric into the hoop or frame for stitching.
Take your time you will make mistakes if you rush.
